Mississippi Headwaters

Our fourth day of riding was a 79-mile ride from Walker to Bagley via Lake Itasca State Park, where the headwaters of the Mississippi River are located. Here's Rich leading John and his sister Mary to the headwaters.

Ummm, Rich ... do you see that sign?

John and Rich standing by the sign at the headwaters. It reads: "Here, 1,475 feet above the ocean, the mighty Mississippi begins to flow on its winding way, 2,552 miles to the Gulf of Mexico."

Tim stands on the rocks denoting the start of the Mississippi River, while Curt and Suzanne are standing back in Lake Itasca.

Rich stands and Curt sits at the headwaters.

Hey! I just discovered your site. Way cool! The picture of Sarah at the airshow is funny - the headphones are lined up with the wagon behind her, so it looks like she has on a handy carrying device! :D Also, regarding the "marker incident", GOOGLE "markerbaby" to see a much-publicised similar event - Hope you're all having a great Fall - we're planning to do a bike ride next weekend up in Madison - It's called "Bike the Barns, and involves area food pantries and organic farms. Hope the weather's good! Hugs and kisses - Naomi
